Misr El Kheir Foundation Continues Implementing the “Enty El Sanad” Initiative to Support and Empower Indebted Women in Luxor
14 April 2026As part of its ongoing efforts to support the most vulnerable groups, Misr El Kheir Foundation continues implementing the “Enty El Sanad” initiative across several governorates. The initiative has now reached Luxor Governorate, targeting women who have experienced debt-related hardships. It provides comprehensive support that goes beyond debt repayment to include psychological and social empowerment, helping rebuild their lives in a safe and stable way. The initiative aims to empower indebted women, raise awareness about the causes of falling into debt, and enhance financial and social awareness to help them make safer, more stable decisions and prevent recurrence.
Dr. Hanan El-Derbashi, Head of the Social Solidarity and Debtors Sector at Misr El Kheir Foundation, affirmed that the initiative stems from a genuine belief in the role of women within the family. She emphasized that the foundation treats indebted women as human cases deserving support and care—not merely as numbers or financial liabilities.
She added that many cases result from difficult circumstances such as illness, economic crises, or lack of awareness of legal procedures. She stressed that the initiative works to raise awareness of women’s rights and the services available to them, including comprehensive health insurance services in Luxor, which can help reduce financial burdens.
She explained that one of the initiative’s key pillars is promoting financial awareness and sound decision-making before borrowing, as well as encouraging women to explore alternatives and available government services to avoid falling into new financial crises.
She also noted that the initiative’s activities provide a safe space for women to exchange experiences and knowledge, enhancing psychological support and boosting self-confidence. The activities also include entertainment segments and competitions in a supportive atmosphere that helps improve participants’ mental well-being.
For his part, Dr. Khaled Omran, Director of Misr El Kheir offices in Luxor, Qena, and the Red Sea governorates, stated that the initiative is implemented in cooperation with around 85 civil society organizations across seven centers in Luxor, ensuring it reaches the largest possible number of beneficiaries.
He emphasized that partnerships with government entities are a key factor in the initiative’s success, particularly in benefiting from comprehensive health insurance and social insurance services, which help reduce financial burdens and support family stability.
He added that the foundation also supports women in their small projects in coordination with relevant authorities, aiming to help them remain productive and avoid financial setbacks. He highlighted that awareness is a fundamental pillar, achieved through field visits and direct engagement to strengthen financial management skills.
He concluded that this integration between civil society and government efforts contributes to enhancing family and community stability, reducing poverty and unemployment, and supporting the path toward sustainable development.
